About Boh U Coconut
Bohucoconut is a company founded by us, husband and wife, Luqman Zaqiy Jatibenang (Zaqiy) and Selfia Savanna (Fia). The idea came at late October 2021 when we read some news about merchants that were successfully closing a trade contract with foreign buyer and became emerging exporter. What shocked us was: the commodities exported were coconut derivatives, commodities that the raw materials–coconut–were so abundant at our place in Aceh Barat region, Aceh province, Indonesia. And no one knew about this kind of business at our place.
We put our utmost effort doing trading courses and joining exporter community to gain more knowledge and understandings about how to produce coconut derivatives as well as exporting administrations. At 5 December 2021, we started our journey.
PHILOSOPHY
"boh U", "Kelapa", "Coconut".
“Boh U” is a phrase in Acehnese language that means coconut in English, or “kelapa” in Indonesian. The coconut itself refers to the “u” word, as the “boh” can be understood as “fruit”, or in a phrase can be translated as “coconut tree fruit”. If we mention “u” in Aceh it means coconut tree as a whole.
Though many successful people inspire us to do this business, the “u” word gives us a foundation to our philosophy. As coconut trees were so abundant in Aceh region, its existence are often forgotten, yet at the same time giving so much value to the people. As we know, every part of a coconut tree have usefulness; the fruit, the log, even the leaves can be used in everyday life. We found it amazing how a word, consisting of a mere one letter (“u”) can refer to something that have so many utilities. So close, abundant and easy to grow, that people use without realizing it.
So in this business, we strive to aim a greater good for people, be it the buyer, the businessmen, and most importantly, the community around us. We found that people around us have yet to realize coconut’s fullest potential. Thus, we want to make sure to introduce the potential to the community, and helping their well being. We want to introduce our qualities to the world; a thing that people here do and achieve in everyday life without even realizing it. Like the “u” word, so simple yet so valuable.

We saw the opportunity to do this business with one challenge: we are alone in the community we are around. No one touch this kind of business (the production of coconut derivatives) in the Western Aceh region. Thus we will try and make sure our business can do a better role in emancipating the local community.
With abundant materials we expect enough quantity to meet our customer needs, and with our means of production we’ll make sure to make products with good quality. Therefore we aim to meet every needs of our customers.
Lastly, as one of most environmentally friendly commodity, we aim to make coconut derivatives as one of major commodities to be utilized across the globe. The coconut derivatives can do a good job for better environment.
